Rules
- Duelists must possess and wear Eye Protection
- Only Spring-powered, single-fire weapons, firing standard 3 inch "Nerf" or "Dart Tag" ammunition are permitted. No fully automatic weapons. No Compressed Air or Electric powered guns.
- A Duelist must possess at least one badge to offer challenge to another Duelist.
- Duelists must provide for themselves a Second. The Second's primary function is "crowd control"(making sure that by-standers do not wander into the field of fire)
- Duelists must display ALL badges they have acquired.
- Challenge may be issued to any Duelist displaying a Badge and in possession of a qualified weapon (see Rule 2) and eye protection.
- Challenges may be fought immediately or at an appointed time.
The Manner of the Duel
A Duelist, espying another adventuresome individual, displaying about their person the requisite accoutrements, issues a challenge by means of a Pretext, thus:
"I say there, Fellow/Madam! You look very like the Boer that killed my brother! I am offended and demand satisfaction!"
(Or some similar fictitious epithet. We are ladies and gentlemen, after all, and rudeness and 'smack-talk' should be eschewed unless between very familiar acquaintances.) Creativity in the Pretext is highly encouraged.
The Challenged, if presently equipped according to the Rules, then accepts the immediate Challenge, or makes an Appointment for a later time, and finds a Second to assist in the Duel.
Once the Challenge has been accepted, the Seconds begin to clear the agreed upon Field of Honor. This should be roughly 8' by 30', sufficiently lighted and offering no advantages of terrain to either party.
Seconds warn passersby of the impending action while The Duelists take position back to back in the center of the space. They shall then take ten(10) measured paces away from each other as the seconds count aloud.
At the Seconds' command of "Turn and Fire!" each Duelist may fire three (3) shots as rapidly as they wish. The first to be struck by a dart will be considered defeated and must relinquish a badge to the victor.
If neither party is struck, or it is determined that both Duelists were struck simultaneously, the Seconds may declare that "Honor has been Served", and both Duelists retain their badges.
Once two Duelists have met on the Field of Honor, they may not re-challenge one another for the period of one hour.
Determination of the Champion
Duelists must register with the proper authority and be entered in the roles to receive their initial badges for participation.
Duelists may register at any time during the Scheduled Hours of the contest and compete until the end of the appointed period.
If a Duelist loses all of their badges they are officially "Out" of the competition and are ineligible for the prize.
After the Scheduled Hours, Duelists will have 1 Hour to turn in their badge for a final count. They will receive an official chit with their count, and must present it after the victor is determined to receive their prize. The Champion will be announced at a pre-determined time and place and awarded their Prize in a public venue.
